"It's one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it's another thing to make a portrait of who they are" - Paul Caponigro
For me, the real moments are the most important moments.
Yes I can pose you and have a bit of fun with sparklers and coloured smoke bombs if that’s your thing.
I can take some funky shots of one of you (or both) descending a decadent staircase, but the photo’s that will melt your heart are more likely to be the ones of your nearest and dearest wiping a tear, embracing in a hug or belling laughing at the best man's speech as he tells a tale you hoped he would have long forgotton.
Yes there will be times during the day that I will be very visible such as the couples portraits and group shots, offering some gentle guidance if needed to ensure we get the real you and not some school photograph replica (surely it isn’t just me that pulls an awkward smile when someone says the dreaded word cheese? **).
Likewise if Great Aunt Lucy or Uncle David needs a helping hand I am there to offer a tissue or help someone down the stairs. It is your special day and therefore the people there are special too.
** Full disclosure - I have never and will never use the phrase ‘cheese’ during any photography shoot. That word only belongs with it’s true life partner ‘board’.
Whilst I love to get several artistic shot's of my couple's for the 'gram', these will only make up a small percentage of the day. For the bulk of your wedding I like to melt into the background and capture the events as they unfold so the raw emotion and joy is felt in print for eternity.
The photo’s captured on your wedding day are the ones that generations will look back on to see if their smile is the same as your smile and what Grandma Grace’s dress looked like back in 2024.
It’s my role to make sure the gallery of pictures tells the story of your day and more importantly shows your love, laughter and all the moments in-between.
